After 22 years association with ESU, firstly as a Dealer and then from 2006 as their UK Distributor, Steve and I contacted Juergen Lindner last September 2023 to advise him that we wished to retire. After a year of planning, we are pleased to announce that as of 26^th August 2024 Rapido Trains UK took over ESU distribution in the UK.

To dispel any speculation, our business is solvent, the time is just right for us both to retire! Simple as that!

There are many people to thank, who have played a crucial and supportive role throughout our 22 years. Too many to mention in this statement. However, there are certain people we wish to acknowledge. These being: -

Keith Powell: (Dad to those who know us well!) who up until his passing, was a pivotal member of SWD! He believed in the Business from the very beginning. He offered help and support wherever he could. Which included building our first show display layout and going on recordings with Steve.

Barry Sumsion: who’s knowledge of Steam Locomotives was second to none! he also went recording with Steve and would help with the finer details of our Steam projects. His enthusiasm was infectious. Again, he went too soon! 

Both Keith and Barry brought extensive knowledge and a sense of humour to our Team. The shows were never quite the same without them. Both exceptional modelers, who are dearly missed!  

Andy Jack: for his humour, honesty, unwavering support and for his knowledge of ESU compatible software. He too, has been on the stand at many shows demonstrating ESU products and offering expert dcc advice.

Juergen Lindner: and all his colleagues at ESU for their support and trusting us with their products and reputation.

A big thank to all our Dealers, Customers and everyone who has been associated with South West Digital over the last 22 years.

We wish Both Rapido Trains UK and ESU all the very best for the future.
